ROB ZOMBIE: 'Once You Leave Our Group, You're Pretty Much Dead To Us'
August 3, 2010In a brand new interview with Jimmy Roc of Revolver TV (see video below),Rob Zombie once again aired his feelings about two of his more recent band members — bassist Rob "Blasko" Nicholson and drummer Tommy Clufetos — being hired away by Ozzy Osbourne for his touring band. Nicholson was hired by Ozzy in 2006 while Clufetos left just months ago, leaving Zombie in desperate need of a drummer. Zombie told Revolver TV, "Well, certain people like to do things in a way that I would never do things and I don't think it's correct, but that's the way they like to do business, obviously. I don't approve of it, but I actually don't give a shit, 'cause I'm happy to get rid of certain people and I'm happy to have Joey [Jordison of SLIPKNOT] on board [as the new ROB ZOMBIE touring drummer] and the band's better than ever." He added, "Once you leave our group, you're pretty much dead to us, so we're fine."
Q: So if you saw [a former member of your band] on the side of the road changing a tire, you [would] just keep driving — no assistance?
Rob Zombie: "Actually, I would pull over so I could hit him. And then I would keep going. I'd just swerve slightly onto the side of the road.
"There's nobody I know about except for the four guys in our band."
Clufetos said in a recent interview about his decision to join Ozzy's band, "Ozzy called me to join his band, and how could I say 'No' to Ozzy Osbourne? It's the pinnacle, so that's why I did it."
Zombie and Ozzy have been friends in the past. They collaborated on a song called "Iron Head" for Zombie's second solo album, 2001's "The Sinister Urge", and Zombie directed a video for Ozzy's 2001 single "Dreamer". Zombie has also toured with Ozzy several times.
Zombie is currently co-headlining the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival with KORN and will hit the road with ALICE COOPER this fall.
